Waterholes

Waterholes in Addo Elephant National Park are key locations where wildlife gathers throughout the day. These water sources attract elephants, buffalo, antelope, and many other animals, especially during dry periods. Several waterholes are strategically placed along the main game drive routes, allowing visitors to stop safely and observe animal behavior. They offer some of the best chances for close but responsible wildlife viewing. For travelers, waterholes provide excellent opportunities for photography and extended wildlife observation.

What to See & Do

  • 🐘 Watch massive elephant herds drink and play at the famous Hapoor Dam 🌊
  • 🦓 Spot zebra, eland, and red hartebeest at the Peasland and Lismore waterholes 🌾
  • 🚶 Safely exit your vehicle at the fenced Spekboom Hide for close-up sightings 🔭
