The Temple of the Sun is one of the three major temples within the Cross Group at the
Palenque Archaeological Zone in Chiapas, Mexico. This temple is believed to have been
dedicated to warfare, the sun, and royal authority, reflecting the spiritual and political
beliefs of the ancient Maya civilization.
Compared to the Temple of the Cross, the Temple of the Sun is smaller and more compact,
yet it holds great symbolic importance. Inside, visitors can view carved stone panels
depicting shields and ceremonial imagery. The elevated position of the temple provides
clear views over the surrounding jungle and nearby structures.
