Svalbard Global Seed Vault

The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is one of the most important conservation facilities in the world, designed to safeguard seeds from crops across the globe. Built deep inside a mountain near Longyearbyen, the vault provides long-term protection against natural disasters, climate change, and human conflict. Often called the Doomsday Seed Vault, this facility represents global cooperation and food security. Although the interior is not open to the public, visiting the exterior allows travelers to see one of the Arctic’s most symbolic modern landmarks.
