Námaskarð is one of Iceland’s most intense geothermal regions, known for its
boiling mud pools, steaming fumaroles, and colorful mineral surfaces. The area
displays strong geothermal energy with constant steam rising from vents,
creating a dramatic and otherworldly landscape.
The ground features shades of yellow, orange, red, and white due to mineral
deposits, making the scenery visually striking. Visitors walk along marked
paths to safely observe the geothermal activity while enjoying the open views
of the surrounding mountains
