Megalo Seitani is a large and dramatic natural beach on the northern coast of Samos Island. Accessible by a longer hike, it offers rugged beauty, powerful waves, and an untouched landscape ideal for adventurous travelers.

What to See & Do

  • 🥾 Hike through coastal trails 🌲 within a protected Natura 2000 wilderness area. 🌿
  • 🌊 Enjoy dramatic sea views 🌅 and swim in the deep, refreshing “Devil’s Port.” 🧜‍♂️
  • 🏖️ Relax on a wild beach 🧘 offering soft sand, pebbles, and total seclusion. 🐚
  • 📸 Photograph the rugged coastline 📷 and the iconic Agios Nikolaos cliffside chapel. 🖼️

How to Get There

  • 🚗 Drive to the Karlovasi trailhead 🛣️ located just past the Potami Beach area. 🏁
  • 🚶 Embark on a 45–60 minute hike 👟 through olive groves and pine-covered cliffs. 📍
  • 🚫 Note there is no direct road access 🚗 ensuring the beach remains peaceful and wild. 👣

Travel Tips

  • 💧 Bring sufficient water and snacks 🥪 as the beach is entirely unorganized. 🧴
  • 🌊 Check sea conditions 🌬️ as the northern “meltemi” winds can make the sea rough. 🚩
  • 🧗 Wear sturdy footwear 👣 as the path can be narrow, rocky, and vertiginous in sections. 🪨
