The Lankaramaya Stupa, located in the Sacred City of Anuradhapura, is one of the most elegant
and tranquil stupas in Sri Lanka.
Built by King Valagamba (also known as King Vattagamini Abhaya) in the 1st century BC,
Lankaramaya is part of the Atamasthana — the eight sacred places in Anuradhapura.
Though smaller than Ruwanwelisaya or Jetavanaramaya, the stupa’s simplicity and symmetry
make it a beautiful symbol of peace.
Surrounded by trees, ancient ruins, and birdsong, it offers travelers a quiet spiritual escape from
the busier temple sites.
