Kanheri Caves are a group of ancient Buddhist rock-cut caves located within Sanjay
Gandhi National Park in Mumbai. Dating back over two thousand years, the caves
served as a center for Buddhist learning and meditation.
The site consists of more than 100 caves featuring prayer halls, monasteries, stone
carvings, and water cisterns. The elevated location provides scenic views of the
surrounding forest area.
For travelers, Kanheri Caves offer a unique combination of history, architecture, and
nature, making it one of Mumbai’s most rewarding heritage experiences.
