Helvellyn is one of the most popular mountains in the Lake District and the third highest in England. It is famous for its dramatic ridges, including Striding Edge and Swirral Edge, and attracts experienced walkers seeking challenging routes and rewarding summit views

What to See & Do

How to Get There

  • 📍 Popular starting point: Glenridding village (via the A592 road) 🏁
  • 🚗 Accessible by car with parking at Beckside or the Ullswater Information Centre 🅿️

Travel Tips

  • ⚠️ Winter Warning (Jan 2026): The mountain is currently in winter condition ❄️. Crampons and ice axes are essential; do not attempt the edges without winter skills 🧊.
