Floating Islands

The floating islands of the Iberá Wetlands are natural formations made of dense vegetation that drift gently across the lagoons. These islands, known locally as embalsados, are a defining feature of the region. Over time, layers of plants and roots form thick mats capable of supporting grasses, shrubs, and even small trees. Wildlife often uses these floating islands for shelter and feeding. For travelers, floating islands create a surreal and constantly changing wetland landscape.
