The Embekka Devalaya, located near Pilimathalawa, is one of Sri Lanka’s most famous temples for its wooden architecture and detailed carvings. Built in the 14th century by King Vikramabahu III, the temple is dedicated to God Kataragama and showcases Sri Lankan craftsmanship at its best. Each wooden pillar, beam, and roof carving tells a story — making it a true masterpiece of Kandyan art.
