De Groene Kathedraal, or ‘The Green Cathedral’, is one of Almere’s most remarkable landmarks — a living artwork made entirely of trees. Designed by artist Marinus Boezem in 1987, this open-air cathedral mirrors the exact shape and proportions of France’s Reims Cathedral using 178 Italian poplar trees. It stands as a powerful symbol of the harmony between nature, art, and spirituality, attracting visitors, photographers, and meditation seekers alike.
