Castello Ursino is a medieval fortress built in the 13th century by Emperor Frederick II. Originally constructed on the seashore, the castle now stands inland due to lava flows from Mount Etna. It is one of the few surviving royal castles in Sicily and today serves as the Civic Museum of Catania, showcasing art, history, and archaeology.
