Bundala National Park is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve famous for its lagoons, flamingos, and crocodiles. It’s one of Sri Lanka’s best birdwatching destinations and a peaceful alternative to Yala.

How to Get There

  • 🚗 From Hambantota: 30 minutes by car via Tissamaharama Road.
  • 🛣️ From Colombo: Around 5.5 hours by car via Southern Expressway (E01).
  • 🚌 By Bus: Take a bus to Hambantota and hire a jeep or tuk-tuk from there.

  • Go with an experienced safari guide 🧑‍🦯🚙 for the best spotting 🗺️✅
  • Bring binoculars 🔭 and sunscreen 🧴 for a comfortable trip ☀️👀

Suggested Itinerary

  • 🐘 6:00 AM – Enter Bundala National Park for a sunrise birdwatching safari.
  • 📸 8:30 AM – Stop by Bundala Lagoon for photography and wildlife spotting.
  • 🍳 10:00 AM – Breakfast in Hambantota or Tissamaharama town.

LKR 1000 (locals), LKR 3000 (foreign visitors) + safari jeep charges

November to March – during the migratory bird season.
