(1)
All Saints Church is one of the most important historical and religious landmarks in Gliwice. With its Gothic architecture and calm interior, the church offers visitors a quiet place to reflect and appreciate centuries of local history. It is an easy stop during a walk around the Old Town area

What to See & Do

  • 🗼 The Iconic Tower: Ascend the 63-meter belfry for the best views in the city. On clear days, you can see the Beskid Mountains and even the Slovakian Tatras 🔭
  • 🎨 Gothic & Baroque Interior: Marvel at the 1687 Baroque main altar and the 18th-century pulpit adorned with Rococo carvings 🏛️
  • Masterful Vaulting: Look up to see the intricate star-shaped vaulting in the nave and network vaulting in the presbytery, supported by massive octagonal pillars 🧱
  • 🏺 The Treasury: Discover sacred artifacts, including a magnificent monstrance by the famous goldsmith Hans Georg Kolbe 👑
  • 🖼️ Gothic Polychromes: Search for the fragments of original medieval wall paintings that have survived centuries of renovations and fires 🛡️

How to Get There

  • 👣 On Foot: A 2-minute walk from the Old Town Market Square (Rynek). Follow **ul. Kościelna** directly to the main portal 🚶
  • 🚆 By Train: A 15-minute walk from Gliwice Main Station through the city’s central pedestrian zone 🚉
  • 🚌 By Public Transport: Buses and trams stop at “Gliwice Plac Inwalidów” or “Krakusa”, both a 5-minute walk from the church 🚍
  • 🚗 By Car: Parking is available in public lots at Plac Inwalidów Wojennych or near the Cathedral. The immediate surroundings are pedestrian-friendly 📍

Travel Tips

  • 🎟️ Tower Access: Open for climbing from **May to September** (Sundays 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM) for a small fee (approx. 7–10 PLN). Night tours are occasionally available via the local PTTK office 🎫
  • Respectful Visiting: The church is an active place of worship. **Do not sightsee during Mass** (check the 2026 schedule: typically Sunday morning/midday and evening) 🕯️
  • 🧥 Temperature Note: Like many thick-walled Gothic churches, the interior remains **quite cool** even in summer—bring a light layer 🌬️
  • 📸 Photography: Photography is generally permitted but **no flash** is allowed. The “Golden Hour” offers the best lighting for the church’s brick exterior 🌅
