Agia Paraskevi Square is a lively public square in northern Athens, popular for its cafés, restaurants, and relaxed nightlife. It is a favorite gathering place for locals and offers a casual, friendly atmosphere for evening visits.

What to See & Do

  • Outdoor Café Culture: Grab a seat at trendy all-day spots like Big Spoon or White Spoon for people-watching and high-quality coffee.
  • 🍔 Foodie Haven: Home to the legendary Juicy Grill (famous for its burgers) and traditional favorites like Ta Romanakia for authentic Cretan cuisine.
  • Agia Paraskevi Church: Visit the iconic church that defines the square, featuring classic Byzantine-style architecture and a peaceful interior.
  • 🍹 Lively Nightlife: As the sun sets, the square transforms. Enjoy signature cocktails at Pleei Play or join the student crowds at the numerous bars lining the nearby streets.

How to Get There

  • 🚇 By Metro: Take Line 3 (Blue Line) toward Doukissis Plakentias/Airport. Exit at Nomismatokopio Station and take a short bus ride (406 or 407), or exit at Agia Paraskevi Station for a 15-minute walk 🚶.
  • 🚍 By Bus: Multiple lines serve the square from the center, including Bus A5 (from Akadimia) and Bus X95 (the Airport Express), which stops right at the square 🛑.
  • 🚗 By Car: A 20-minute drive from Syntagma via Mesogeion Avenue. Street parking can be tight, but there are private garages nearby.

Travel Tips

  • 🌙 Evening is Best: The square truly comes alive after 7:00 PM. It’s the perfect alternative to the crowded bars of Monastiraki or Psiri.
  • 🥙 Authentic Prices: Since it’s less touristy, you’ll find that dining here offers much better value for money (expect €15–€25 for a full meal).
  • 👟 Walking: The square is largely pedestrian-friendly. Wear comfortable shoes to explore the side streets where many of the best hidden bars are located.
  • 🍰 Don’t Miss Dessert: Visit Kosmikon nearby for what many consider the best galaktoboureko (custard pie) in all of Athens.
