Rano Raraku

4
(1)
Rano Raraku is the volcanic crater where nearly all of Easter Island’s Moai statues were carved. This sacred quarry offers deep insight into the craftsmanship, culture, and history of the Rapa Nui people. Scattered across the slopes and interior of the crater, partially carved and unfinished Moai reveal how these massive statues were created. It is one of the most important archaeological sites on the island.
