Bayon Temple is one of the most recognizable monuments within the Angkor complex, famous for its many stone towers carved with smiling faces. Located at the center of Angkor Thom, the temple was built in the late 12th century under King Jayavarman VII. The temple features more than 200 large stone faces, believed to represent Avalokiteshvara or the king himself.
