Jupiter’s Temple is a well-preserved ancient Roman temple located within Diocletian’s Palace
in Split, Croatia. Built in the late 3rd century, the temple was dedicated to Jupiter, the chief
god of Roman mythology, and reflects the religious importance of the palace complex during
Emperor Diocletian’s reign.
Despite its small size, Jupiter’s Temple is admired for its impressive stonework, barrel-vaulted
ceiling, and historical transformation over the centuries. The structure later became a
Christian baptistery, adding another layer to its rich past.
For travelers, the temple offers a quiet and atmospheric space to appreciate Roman
craftsmanship and the blending of pagan and Christian history within the palace walls.
