Djúpalónssandur Black Sand Beach is a dramatic and historic beach located on the western side of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Formed by volcanic activity, the beach is covered with smooth black pebbles and surrounded by lava formations. The area was once an important fishing site, and remains of shipwrecks can still be seen along the shore. Powerful ocean waves and open horizons give the beach a raw and untamed atmosphere.
