Glacier Walkways

5
(1)
Glacier Walkways are specially designed elevated paths that allow visitors to safely approach and observe massive Patagonian glaciers from multiple angles. These walkways are most famously developed around Perito Moreno Glacier, offering stable and well-maintained access to dramatic ice formations.

What to See & Do

  • 🟡 Central Circuit (Yellow): The most popular route, leading to the “Main Balcony” for iconic panoramic views 🧊
  • 🔴 Lower Circuit (Red): Descends close to the glacier’s face; the best spot to witness and hear calving events 🔊
  • 🔵 Coastal Path (Blue): A scenic walk along the shoreline of the Canal de los Témpanos (Iceberg Channel) 🌊
  • 🟢 Forest Path (Green): A peaceful route through native Lenga and Guindo trees with occasional glacier glimpses 🌲
  • ⚪ Accessible Path: A lift-equipped section providing wheelchair users access to a prime glacier viewpoint ♿

How to Get There

  • 🚌 By Bus: Daily shuttles depart from the El Calafate Terminal; the ride takes approximately 1.5 hours 🏁
  • 🚗 By Car: Follow RP 11 to the park entrance; there are two parking lots (Upper and Lower) connected by a free shuttle 🅿️
  • 🚐 By Tour: Guided “Traditional” tours include round-trip transport and dedicated time on the walkways 🎟️
