Dead Horse Gap is a scenic mountain pass located along the Alpine Way in Kosciuszko National Park. It is known for its sweeping curves, high-altitude views, and dramatic alpine scenery. The area is especially beautiful during summer and autumn when alpine colors change across the landscape.

Travel Tips

  • ❄️ Check for black ice on the road during 🌡️ cold mornings and winter months. ⚠️
  • 🐎 Be extremely alert for brumbies and deer crossing the 🛣️ road. 🦌
  • 🧥 Bring a windproof jacket as the gap is often significantly 🌬️ colder than Thredbo. 🧤
  • ⛓️ Carry snow chains if driving a 2WD between 📅 June and October. 🛑
