Mount Roberts Trail is a well-known hiking route that climbs from downtown Juneau toward the slopes of Mount Roberts. The trail rewards hikers with panoramic views of the city, Gastineau Channel, and surrounding mountains.

How to Get There

  • 🚶 **On Foot:** Access the trailhead at the end of **Basin Road** (just past the wooden bridge) 🛤️
  • ⚠️ **Note:** The old 6th Street entrance is currently closed due to unstable slopes 🛑
  • 🚗 **By Car:** Park in downtown Juneau and walk the short distance to the Basin Road entry 🅿️
  • 🚠 **By Tramway:** Ride the Goldbelt Tram up to start in the alpine, or use it to descend after your hike 🎟️

Travel Tips

  • 🥾 Wear sturdy, waterproof hiking boots with excellent traction for slippery roots and mud 💦
  • 🥤 Carry at least 2 liters of water and high-energy snacks for the 4–7 hour round trip 🍎
  • 🧥 Bring windproof and waterproof layers, as temperatures drop significantly at the top 🌬️
  • 🐻 Practice bear safety by making noise; both black and brown bears frequent these slopes 🐾
