(1)
Attica Zoological Park is the largest zoo in Greece and a popular attraction for families and nature lovers. Located near Athens International Airport, it houses animals from around the world in well-maintained and educational environments.

What to See & Do

  • 🦒 African Savannah: Wander past giraffes, zebras, and white rhinos in a massive open-plains exhibit.
  • 🐬 Marine Mammal Center: Watch daily educational presentations featuring bottle-nose dolphins and sea lions.
  • 🐒 Monkey Forest: Walk through the lemur enclosure where these curious primates roam freely around you.
  • 🦅 Birds in Flight: Experience high-flying demonstrations (usually at 11:30 and 14:00) featuring birds of prey.
  • 🚜 The Farm: A family favorite where children can meet and learn about domestic animals like pygmy goats.

How to Get There

  • 🚗 By Car: ~30 mins from central Athens via Attiki Odos (Exit 16P for Rafina or Exit 18 for Spata).
  • 🚍 By Metro & Bus: Take Metro Line 3 to Doukisis Plakentias, then board Bus 319 (runs every ~35 mins).
  • 🚕 By Taxi: Convenient from the airport (10-15 mins) or the center (20-30 mins).

Travel Tips

  • 👟 Footwear: Wear sturdy walking shoes; the terrain is expansive and involves a lot of walking.
