The Thuparamaya Stupa, located in the heart of Anuradhapura, is one of the most sacred and historically important monuments in Sri Lanka. Built by King Devanampiyatissa in the 3rd century BC, it is considered the first Buddhist stupa on the island and enshrines a relic of Lord Buddha — the right collarbone. Though smaller than other stupas, Thuparamaya holds immense spiritual value. Its simple bell-shaped dome, surrounded by tall stone pillars, reflects the pure architectural style of early Sri Lankan Buddhism. The peaceful surroundings make it a perfect spot for meditation and reflection.
