Takayama Jinya is one of Japan’s last remaining Edo-period government offices used by regional administrators. This beautifully preserved building offers a rare glimpse into samurai-era bureaucracy, architecture, and daily official duties. Its tatami rooms, archives, and storerooms highlight how governance operated during feudal Japan.
