Kitain Temple is one of Kawagoe’s most historically significant Buddhist temples. Founded in the 9th century, it is best known for housing the only surviving structures of Edo Castle after a major fire in 1657. The temple grounds include 540 stone Rakan statues, peaceful gardens, and important cultural treasures that offer a deep look into Japanese history.
