Chion-in Temple, located in the Higashiyama district of Kyoto, is one of Japan’s most important Pure Land Buddhist temples. Known for its monumental Sanmon Gate, peaceful Zen gardens, and vast temple grounds, Chion-in offers visitors an impressive combination of historic architecture and spiritual tranquility. As the head temple of the Jodo sect, it has been a center of Buddhist practice for more than 800 years.
