Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary is one of the oldest and most tranquil bird reserves in Sri Lanka. Home to over 150 bird species, it’s a paradise for nature lovers and photographers.

How to Get There

  • 🚗 From Tangalle: 25 minutes by car via Kalametiya Road.
  • 🛣️ From Hambantota: 1 hour by car via Tangalle–Hambantota Road.
  • 🚌 By Bus: Regular coastal buses pass through Kalametiya village.

  • 🔭 Bring binoculars and a camera with zoom for bird photography.
  • 👕 Wear light, neutral-colored clothing for blending into the environment.
  • 💧 Carry water, sunscreen, and mosquito repellent.
  • 🐦 Visit early morning or late afternoon for the best bird activity.
