Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, one of Ayutthaya’s most iconic temples, is known for its towering chedi and the giant reclining Buddha that symbolizes peace and victory. Built during the reign of King Naresuan the Great in 1357, the temple was dedicated to monks returning from meditation training in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). Today, it remains an active monastery and one of the most visited temples in Ayutthaya.
