Temple of Hercules

The Temple of Hercules is one of the most prominent Roman-era structures within the Amman Citadel complex. Dating back to the 2nd century AD, the temple was built during the reign of Emperor Marcus Aurelius and reflects the importance of Roman Amman, once known as Philadelphia. Although only parts of the temple remain today, including massive stone columns and the famous stone hand believed to belong to a statue of Hercules, the site offers a strong sense of scale and history combined with open city views.
